National campaign on risks related to online purchase of counterfeit and pirated goods
The national campaign on risks related to online purchase of counterfeit and pirated goods under the slogan “Don't buy a cat in a poke“ organised by the competent public administration authorities and institutions involved in the coordination mechanism of intellectual property enforcement, was launched on 23rd February 2016 at a press conference in the premises of the State Intellectual Property Office.
The campaign aims to raise citizen awareness of counterfeit and pirated goods that are sold online as originals, acquaint citizens with legal, financial and health risks and possible damaging consequences of such a purchase and inform them on protection against purchases of such goods.
The campaign was jointly initiated and organised by the State Intellectual Property Office, Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Economy-European Consumer Centre Croatia, Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of Croatia as well as intellectual property right holders associations HDS ZAMP, BOA, APAW, ZAPRAF, HUZIP and other institutions involved in the national coordination of intellectual property rights enforcement.
The campaign will run in two flights during 2016. The campaign will peak in the period 23rd February – 27th March and during November and December in the time of increased online shopping.
The campaign will be run on the official website www.stop-krivotvorinama-i-piratstvu.hr, on social networks of the Coordination (Facebook, Twitter) as well as official web pages of cooperation institution, on billboards and in media through radio and animated ads.
Information material about the risks of online purchase will be handed out to citizens in the premises of the Croatian Post, cinemas, Algoritam and Tisak media shops and it will be placed on the web pages of the online advertiser Njuskalo.hr
