Results of the Prize Competition for Primary and Secondary Schoolchildren titled “Original is Always Better”

Based on the competition announced on 26 April 2018 for primary and secondary schoolchildren, we publish the decision on the prizes awarded by the State Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Croatia and the Coordination for the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights of the Republic of Croatia in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization for the best literary work, video work, composition, fine art work or cartoon on the theme of: “Original is Always Better”.

The Assessment Committee Members:

  • Ivana Nikolić Popović, President of the Croatian Cluster of Competitiveness of Creative and Cultural Industries
  • Ana Rački Marinković, Deputy Director General of the State Intellectual Property Office
  • Tanja Milović, Head of the Independent Service for Education, Promotion and Development of Use of Intellectual Property, State Intellectual Property Office   
  • Milan Majerović Stilinović and Marina Ferić Jančić, Croatian Composers Association

assessed the works submitted for the competition on the basis of the following evaluation criteria:

  • adequate treatment of the theme given
  • creativity

Based on the assessments by the Assessment Committee, the following prizes shall be awarded for the best literary work, video work, composition, fine art work or cartoon on the theme of:  “Original is Always Better”: 

The prize for the best work in the category of works by primary schoolchildren in class 1 to 4 shall be awarded for the cartoon titled “Original is Always Better”, author: Roko Bačelić-Medić, Primary School Faust Vrančić, Šibenik. 
In addition to this work, the following works were selected in this category as finalists:
Literary work: “Combat against Copies”,author: Majda Tiršek Primary School Vojnić, Vojnić
Fine art work: “Creativity”, author: Lorena Andrijanić, Primary School Novo Čiče

The prize for the best work in the category of works by primary schoolchildren in class 5 to 8 shall be awarded for the video work titled “Original is Always Better“, authors: Mislav Bradarić, Luka Katavić, David Koncoš, Primary School Mato Lovrak Vladislavci.
In addition to this work, the following works were selected in this category as finalists:
Composition: “Original is Always Better“, lyrics by: Mia Kovačević, music by: Lisa Katarina Đukić and Iva Rutar, Primary School Viktor Car Emin, Lovran
Literary work: “My Property”, author: Ivana Milanković, Primary School Đuro Pilar, District School Kolonija, Slavonski Brod

The prize for the best work in the category of works by secondary schoolchildren shall be awarded for the video work titled “Artifex”, author: Melita Sandrin, Construction Technical School, Zagreb
In addition to this work, the following works were selected in this category as finalists:
Fine art/literary work: “Something Else”, author: Sandra Puljko, School for Art, Design, Graphics and Clothing Zabok
Video work: “Think”, authors: Lorena Kalić, Lucija Kristić and Ivona Marjanović, Accredited Salesian Classical Grammar School, Rijeka

The best overall work as assessed by the Assessment Committee is the video work titled “Artifex”, author: Melita Sandrin, Construction Technical School, Zagreb.
